DescriptionBill Morgan - M.S., Mechanical EngineeringHave you ever shared your faith with someone, and when are done and leave you say to yourself: “Oh! I should have said blah blah blah!!!!” This is a common experience. The nice thing is the next time you witness you will be even more prepared with answers.
Suppose you decided that you wanted to be a boxer. What would your first day of sparring be like? Would you be a world beater? Highly skilled and graceful? No, you will continually be punched in the nose.
But, the more you spar, they better you get. If you don’t quit, you gain experience and get fewer bloody noses.
Suppose you want to share your faith? At first, you will get stumped many times, but these experiences should make you dig for answers and then you will be ready. One of the best things that ever happened to me was when a Jehovah’s Witness turned me onto a pretzel over the deity of Christ. The beating I took encouraged me to study what the Bible taught on this important topic.
This past week I spoke at a Youth for Christ conference and was very encouraged by a high school girl who said she challenged her Biology teacher on the lack of evidence for the theory of evolution. The teacher told her you would not expect to see this evidence, since the evolutionary process occurred over very long ages. His answer seemed to have stumped her, and she asked me what I would say.
My advice was to say to her teacher: “So then you admit there is no evidence for the Theory of Evolution?”
She seemed to have liked that answer. I related the boxer analogy…encouraging her to persevere with her witnessing. The BEST teacher is EXPERIENCE. The only way to get experience is to get in the game and take some lumps.
This month I will share with you what I have learned from many years of witnessing. A few of the questions we will answer are:
What are the real reasons people are atheists?
What works and what does not work?
How many people really are atheists?
What secrets are important to know about atheists? Venue
