Lost Dutchman Hike & Wild Flower Expedition
Sat. March 27th – 8:30 a.m.
One of Arizona’s most intriguing and scenic spots: the fabled Superstition Mountains! Mysteries, legends of gold, and lost mines beckon even today!
Lost Dutchman State Park is slated to close in a few months, so come see it now!
Jim Clarke, AzOSA Resident Geologist, will lead a moderate hike on the Siphon Draw Trail to discuss the area’s geology. Did you know that the Superstition Mountains area was once the site of a huge volcanic event? Come on out and learn more! The hike is about 1 - 2 hours long, but you can turn back at any point. This event is “kid friendly” (sorry, no pets permitted)!
Cost: AZ State Parks Entry Fee: $5 per car (up to 4 adults)
AzOSA will accept a love offering at the event.
Location: Lost Dutchman State Park, 6109 N. Apache Trail, Apache Junction, AZ
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen and maybe even a picnic lunch! There are restaurants and fast food places in nearby Apache Junction as well. Hiking boots/sturdy shoes recommended. We will meet everyone at the Siphon Draw Trailhead area inside the park - - look for the AzOSA sign! Plan to be there by 8:30 a.m. so we can start the hike while it is still cool.
